Privacy Policy
Who we are
InnerMap is a digital wellbeing app run by Sinead Reed Forrester, trading as InnerMap in the UK. We are the data controller for the small amount of personal information described in this policy.
You can contact us about privacy at iminnermap@gmail.com
What stays on your phone
Everything you write or record in InnerMap stays on your device. We cannot see it, and it is never sent to us.
This includes:
Journal entries and reflections
Mood check-ins and notes
Gratitude entries
Your progress, streaks and daily practice history
If you choose to share or export something from the app, you decide what is shared and who with. If you delete the app, this information is deleted from your phone. Depending on your phone settings, it may be included in your own device backup (for example iCloud), which is managed by Apple, not by us.

Why we use it
Under UK data protection law, we need a lawful reason for using your information:
Consent: waitlist and newsletter emails. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email.
Legitimate interests: replying to support messages, keeping the website secure and understanding how it is used.
We never sell your information, use it for advertising profiles, or use it to make automated decisions about you.
Sharing, storage and how long we keep it
We only share your information with trusted services that help us run InnerMap:
Apple, for app downloads and subscriptions
Squarespace, which hosts our website
[Email tool], which sends our waitlist and newsletter emails
Some of these services may store data outside the UK. Where they do, they use legal safeguards approved under UK law.
We keep waitlist emails until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them, and support messages for up to [12 months] after the conversation ends.
Your rights
You have the right to ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, to correct it, to have it deleted, or to object to how we use it. Email [email address] and we will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Age
The InnerMap app and waitlist are designed for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18 through the app or website. If you believe a young person has signed up, contact us and we will delete their details.
InnerMap also runs courses and programmes for young people, usually delivered with schools, colleges or other organisations. These are not part of the app. Any information collected for them is covered by a separate privacy notice, shared with young people, parents or carers and the organisation before the programme starts.
Your safety
InnerMap supports everyday wellbeing. It is not a therapy, medical or crisis service. If you are struggling or feel unsafe, please contact your GP, call NHS 111, call Samaritans free on 116 123, or text SHOUT to 85258. In an emergency, call 999.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top and let you know in the app or by email if the change is significant.
